One of longest standing programmes for young Slovene authors is Urška. Each year, one author becomes the winner of the Most Promising Young Author of the year award.
The author is chosen through several cycles of readings done by different comitees at each level and comes with the publication of the debut book for its winner. Application are accepted in all literary genres, prose, poetry, drama.
In 2019, 92 applications were received and the winner became poet Nina Medved.
Through the years, many distinguished Slovene authors were awarded by the programme, among others Nataša Kramberger, Veronika Dintinjana, Mirana Likar Bajželj, Eva Markun, Sergej Harlamov, Selma Skenderović, just to name a few.
The programme is organised by the Public Fund for Cultural Activities of the Republic of Slovenia.
